Myofunctional

Myofunctional therapy is a treatment intervention recommended for individuals who have difficulty speaking, chewing, swallowing and breathing. This method of therapy involves exercises and behavioral changes to promote nasal breathing and better airflow during sleep. Mouth breathing and poor oral resting posture can negatively impact overall health, facial and dental development, attention, sleep, and executive functioning skills. Using a variety of techniques, therapists can strengthen the tongue muscle, stabilize the jaw, repattern oral facial muscles, and improve oral resting posture, helping individuals achieve increased focus and attention capacities, improved sleep quality, and enhanced mental clarity, organization, and brain-body connectivity.
